Hurdler briefly awarded Birmingham race but Spencer reinstated
British 400 metres hurdler Perri Shakes-Drayton was denied her first Diamond League win in controversial circumstances at the Aviva Birmingham Grand Prix on Sunday.
She crossed the line in 54.08 in second place behind Kaliese Spencer but was upgraded to first when the Jamaican was disqualified.
Spencer was quickly reinstated, though, with officials deciding her trail leg had not gone around rather than over the hurdle.
But Shakes-Drayton could still console herself with beating London 2012 gold medallist Russian Natalya Antyukh and bronze medallist Zuzana Hejnova.
Shakes-Drayton, who was only an Olympic semi-finalist, had also beaten Antyukh in finishing third at the Diamond League meeting in Lausanne on Thursday.
Move on
The Briton said she is glad she can move on from her Olympic disappointment.
"I was heartbroken, I'm not going to tell fibs," the east Londoner said. "I'm kind of glad that it's over with as well because I can move on.
"I had anger, I had upset inside so I couldn't wait to get on the track again.
"I said I wanted to end my season on a high and at the moment it's looking that way because I'm running good times."
Meanwhile, Olympic 400m silver medallist Christine Ohuruogu was second in 50.67s in a race won by Jamaican Rosemarie Whyte.
