Wakefield Wildcats have completed the signing of prop Tinirau Arona from Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks on a 12-month deal.

The 26-year-old, who played under Wildcats coach Brian Smith during their time together at Sydney Roosters, becomes the club's second signing of the week following the arrival of his former Cronulla team-mate Anthony Tupou on Monday.

Arona, a Cook Islands international said: "It's a big change coming from Sydney but me and my family are looking forward to embracing Wakefield as our new family and home.

"Travelling with my good friend Anthony Tupou and re-uniting with my first NRL coach Brian Smith makes this move even more exciting for me.

"I have played some of my best football under the guidance of Smithy and I'm looking forward to improving my game with him as my coach again."

Smith added: "'Arona is not nearly as decorated as Tupou but he is well known to me from when he was a youngster at the Roosters. His versatility and skilful play with feet and hands will add great depth to the Wildcats pack in 2016."
