Harlequins coach Brian McDermott can breathe a little easier after Henry Paul hinted he would like to remain at the club. McDermott was worried Paul would call it a day at the end of the season, but the 34-year-old says he is loving his rugby at the moment and fully intends to carry on. The former Wigan and Bradford man, who played rugby union for Gloucester, also says he is enjoying his time with Quins and would fancy extending his stay. Paul says he is desperate to try and win some silverware with the Londoners, where he is fully enjoying his time. "I want to win a trophy with Harlequins because I've won something with every other club I've been at," said Paul. "It would be fantastic to do that here. It's a different environment and we don't have the facilities or the money that Wigan, Bradford or Gloucester have."

Play on

"At the moment my mind set is to carry on. "There's a spirit and a backs-to-the-wall and battling type of thing here that I love. "I'm going to play every game as hard as I can and show everyone what I can do. "I want to make sure I've done everything before I burn my boots." Paul was in top form as he helped Harlequins beat Hull 24-6 on Sunday, and more performances like that will only strengthen the club's resolve to keep him at the Stoop. Contract talks are due to begin in the summer and Paul says that he has not ruled anything out, apart from hanging up his boots. "I would love to play with my brother Robbie again," he added. "I would not say never to moving back to rugby union again either."
