Loose forward agrees new five-year contract at Headingley

Leeds Rhinos youngster Chris Clarkson has committed his future to the club by agreeing a new five-year contract with the Super League outfit. The loose forward, 21, came through the Rhinos academy and made his first-team debut against Hull KR in 2010. Clarkson has already played twice at Wembley in the Challenge Cup final and started in the Rhinos memorable Grand Final victory over St Helens at Old Trafford in October. Speaking of his new deal, a delighted Clarkson told his club's official website: "I am very pleased to have agreed the new deal with the club and I am very excited about the future.

Something special

"I had a couple of years to go on my old contract but I was more than happy to agree a new, longer term contract. We have something very special at the Rhinos and I want to be a big part of taking that forward. "Having grown up as a kid watching Kevin Sinfield, Rob Burrow, Danny McGuire, Ryan Bailey and Jamie Jones-Buchanan and seeing what they have achieved from their commitment to the club makes me want to strive for the same thing. "Those guys have created history at Leeds with the success they have achieved and as their careers come to an end it is up to the next generation to take on their legacy." Rhinos head coach expressed his satisfaction at the news, adding: "I am delighted that Chris has committed his future to Leeds. It is well documented about the spirit and commitment between our squad and people like Chris are at the heart of that. "He has achieved a great deal already in his career but I know that his best years are still ahead of him."
