Wigan prop Ben Cross is set to make his comeback from a broken forearm when the Warriors face St Helens in Sunday's Super League qualifying play-off.
The veteran Australian front rower, who signed on a short-term contract from Leeds in July, was initially ruled out for the rest of the season after suffering the break against Salford on August 14.
However, Cross's recovery has been ahead of schedule and Wigan coach Michael Maguire has named him in his 19-man squad for the match at the DW Stadium.
Cross sat out the Challenge Cup final at Wembley but had his plaster cast removed after a fortnight and continued to train with the team throughout.
Maguire also welcomes back two other props, Andy Coley and Lee Mossop, who dislocated a shoulder in the Cup final, with Chris Tuson and Eamon O'Carroll dropping out from the team that beat Crusaders in the final match of the regular season last Friday.
Meanwhile, St Helens are still without stand-off Leon Pryce, who has a leg injury, but welcome back forwards Tony Puletua and Sia Soliola, goalkicking winger Jamie Foster and hooker James Roby, who all sat out last Saturday's win at Harlequins.
Wigan squad: S. Tomkins, Goulding, Carmont, Richards, Deacon, Leuluai, McIlorum, Coley, Hansen, J. Tomkins, O'Loughlin, Prescott, Lima, Hoffman, Finch, Mossop, Farrell, Charnley, Cross.
St Helens squad: Wellens, Shenton, Soliola, Meli, Roby, Graham, Puletua, Wilkin, Moore, McCarthy-Scarsbrook, Clough, Ashurst, Dixon, Lomax, Foster, Armstrong, Gaskell, Makinson, Hale.
