Stan Wawrinka secured his third successive Chennai Open title after a straight sets win over Borna Coric.
The world No 4 has claimed four trophies in six years at the Indian tournament and completed a comfortable 6-3 7-5 win over the 19-year-old Coric, the youngest ATP World Tour finalist since Kei Nishikori at Delray Beach in 2008.
Wawrinka opened a 4-2 lead in the opening set after converting his first break point, but Coric produced a spirited response in the Swiss player's next service game.
With the teenager pushing for an instant break back, Wawrinka kept him at bay for over nine minutes before holding his serve, and soon forged a 1-0 lead in the match.
Coric stubbornly defended his service games in the second set until Wawrinka's superb backhand down the line earned him a break for a 6-5 lead.
The top seed then sealed victory after Coric made an error at the net.
"I was expecting a pretty tough match. He is really good and he always finds a way to fight and come back in the match," said Wawrinka, who fired down 15 aces and won 34 of 38 points on his first serve.
"Let's first enjoy the title. It's a very important tournament for me, that's why I like to come back here. Perfect conditions to start. I am not thinking about the rest of the year now."
Coric, who beat Britain's Aljaz Bedene in a marathon semi-final on Saturday, said: "It's my first final so I'm going to make some mistakes. So give me some time please."
