Relive Pete Sampras and Boris Becker's thrilling five-set epic from the year-end ATP Finals in 1996.
Sampras entered the tournament, held in Germany and played on indoor carpet, as the top seed and progressed to a final against home-favourite Becker, who was the defending champion, and the pair produced a classic encounter.
The American eventually prevailed 3-6 7-6(5) 7-6(4) 6-7(11) 6-4 over the German, who started the match with four successive aces, to claim his eighth title of the campaign which included capturing his home Grand Slam at Flushing Meadows.
Becker began the season finale as the sixth seed but was roared on by his home faithful in the final and the four-hour match, which included three tiebreaks, did not disappoint.
The German, who was appearing in his eighth ATP Finals, defeated the American in the round-robin stage but was unable to repeat the feat in the final.
