Second seed crashes out in last eight

Slovakia's Daniela Hantuchova recovered from a set down to beat second seed Jelena Jankovic in the quarter-final of the Family Circle Cup, her first victory over a top-10 opponent for three years. Hantuchova, the eighth seed, paid the price for a misfiring serve to lose the first set 6-1. But she hit back in style to take the next two 6-3 6-3 and record her second win in five meetings with Serbia's Jankovic. "I felt very good on the court today, even though the first set was not easy," she said. "I tried to put a little more on the ball (in the second set), move her a little more around and stay more aggressive, and that made the difference." Hantuchova will play fourth seed Samantha Stosur in the semi-final after the Australian prevailed 6-4 6-1 over China's Shuai Peng.

Hot streak

Top seed Caroline Wozniacki extended her winning run to eight matches with a 6-3 6-4 win over Nadia Petrova in her quarter-final. "I feel like I'm playing very well," said Wozniacki, the world number two. "I'm very confident, and I've got some good results with my play." The Dane will meet Russia's Vera Zvonareva in the last four after the seventh seed ended home interest in the Charleston tournament with a 7-5 6-2 triumph against Melanie Oudin.
