Fernando Verdasco eased into the quarter-finals of the Swedish Open with a straight-sets demolition of Stephane Robert in Bastad. The Spaniard, seeded second at the clay-court event, eased to a 6-1 6-1 victory over the hapless Frenchman in just 66 minutes. Verdasco's compatriot, fourth seed Nicolas Almagro, also progressed with a comfortable 6-4 6-4 win over Finland's Jarkko Nieminen, while fifth seed Tommy Robredo battled back to beat Andrey Golubev of Kazakhstan 3-6 6-3 6-2. Meanwhile Croatia's world number 369 Franco Skugor continued his surprise run when he reached the last eight with a 6-2 6-3 win over fellow qualifier Ervin Eleskovic.
