Spaniard claims seventh ATP success with victory in Swiss Open

Nicolas Almagro comprehensively beat Richard Gasquet to win the Swiss Open on Sunday and lift the seventh trophy of his career on the ATP circuit. The 24-year-old won 7-5 6-1 in Gstaad to earn Spain their first Swiss Open crown since Alex Corretja in 2002. He raced to a 5-3 lead in the first set only for Frenchman Gasquet to battle back to 5-5, but the Spaniard then dug deep, producing two timely aces to seal the set. In the second, Almagro completely dominated as Gasquet, who had missed Wimbledon because of a back injury, struggled to win just one game. The Spaniard registered his seventh ATP career win with the victory, with all his successes coming on clay courts, the previous just two weeks ago at Sweden's Bastad.
