Rain fails to halt Pervak and Bondarenko

Home favourite Patricia Mayr-Achleitner continued her remarkable run at the Gastein Ladies by reaching her first WTA final with a 6-0 6-0 win over Ksenia Pervak. The Austrian wild card needed just over 45 minutes to see offf the out-of-sorts eighth seed and to set up a meeting with Spain's Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez on Sunday. The encounter will offer 24-year-old Mayr-Achleitner the chance for a measure of revenge against Martinez Sanchez, who beat her 7-5 7-5 in her only previous WTA semi-final in Bogota two years ago. Former top 20 player Martinez Sanchez, who is currently battling back from a knee injury, booked her place in the final with a 6-1 7-6 win over Kateryna Bondarenko of Ukraine. Earlier, Pervak and Bondarenko both overcame rain delays to reach the semi-finals of the Gastein Ladies on Saturday. Russian eighth-seed Pervak defeated Spaniard Laura Pous-Tio 6-2 7-6 (7-5) to book a last four showdown with Austrian wild card Patricia Mayr-Archleitner later the same day. Pous-Tio had beaten defending champion Julia Goerges in the opening round but was overpowered in the first set before losing a tightly-contested second on the tie-break. Bondarenko also came through in straight-sets courtesy of a 6-2 6-1 demolition of Spain's Carla Suarez Navarro.
