Home hope Ivan Dodig became the first seeded player to crash out of the Studena Croatia Open in Umag after slipping to defeat against Albert Ramos in the first round on Monday. Dodig, the eighth seed from Croatia, slipped to a 6-4 3-6 6-2 defeat, while in the only other first-round match played Diego Junqueira defeated Antonio Veic 6-4 7-5. Elsewhere, Ruben Ramirez Hidalgo, Simone Vagnozzi and Gianluca Naso all booked their place in the first round after coming through qualifiers. Ramirez Hidalgo beat Aljaz Bedene 6-4 7-6 (7/1), Vagnozzi got the better of Thomas Fabbiano 7-5 6-0 and Naso overcame Dino Marcan 6-4 7-5.
