Number five seed sees off Zahlavova Strycova in Stanford

Fifth seed Agnieszka Radwanska booked her place in the second round of the Bank of the West Classic with a 6-1 6-2 victory Barbora Zahlavova Strycova. The Pole needed just 68 minutes and broke her Czech opponent's serve six times on her way to the easy win. She will now face a second-round clash with Kai-Chen Chang, who beat American wildcard Hilary Barte 7-5 6-4. Number eight seed Dominika Cibulkova also advanced in straight sets, beating 40-year-old Kimiko Date-Krumm 6-2 7-6. There were also wins for Canada's Rebecca Marino and Christina McHale of the United States, who saw off Mirjana Lucic for the loss of just one game.
