Caroline Wozniacki moved into the semi-finals of the New Haven Open after avenging last week's defeat to Christina McHale. The world number one, who lost in the first round in both Toronto and Cincinnati, claimed a 7-5 6-3 victory over her American opponent in Connecticut. Wozniacki broke McHale at a timely interval to claim a tight first set before claiming another break of serve in the eighth game of the second set to kill the contest off. The 21-year-old Dane will face third-seeded Francesca Schiavone in the semi-finals after the Italian advanced when Anabel Medina Garrigues withdrew from their clash due to a knee injury. The number two seed is also through to the semi-finals after Li Na endured several hours of rain delays to secure a 6-4 3-6 6-2 win over Russia's Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova. The French Open champion will next face Czech qualifier Petra Cetkovska, who beat fourth seed Marion Bartoli 7-5 7-5.
