Gasquet suffers shock straight-sets defeat to eighth-seeded Muller

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga had to come from a set down to see off fellow Frenchman Nicolas Mahut in the quarter-finals of the Moselle Open. Tsonga, chasing his first ATP title in nearly two years, made a slow start against his compatriot in Metz before eventually truimphing 4-6 6-3 7-5. "Nicolas is a fantastic player and I knew I was going to have a tough match," said the tournament's top seed. "I think today I maybe missed the start and it took time for me to get into the match. I wasn't easy and it clearly could have gone both ways." The world number 10 wil now face Ukraine's Alexandr Dolgopolov, who was leading Xavier Malisse 6-3 1-0 when the Belgian retired with an injury, for a place in the final. Frenchman Richard Gasquet will not get the chance of a home victory, however, as he suffered a 6-3 6-4 defeat to Gilles Muller, the eighth seed from Luxembourg. Muller's reward is a last-four encounter with Croatia's Ivan Ljubicic, the fourth seed having seen off Holland's Igor Sijsling 6-4 6-3.
