Tobias Kamke provided the shock of the day in the Thailand Open in Bangkok when he beat eighth seed Pablo Andujar. World number 103 Kamke, named last year's ATP World Tour Newcomer of the Year, needed only 56 minutes to secure a comfortable 6-0 6-1 victory over the Spaniard. The 25-year-old will face now qualifier Go Soeda in the second round after the Japanese star beat Slovakia's Karol Beck 3-6 7-6 (7/0) 7-6 (7/4) in the final match of the opening round. Third seed Gilles Simon was pushed all the way in his second round match against Yen-Hsun Lu of Taiwan before managing to overcome his opponent 6-7 (7/4) 7-5 6-4. Matthias Bachinger will be waiting for Simon in the quarter-finals after he recorded a 7-6 (7/5) 6-3 win over Danai Udomchoke, while Jarkko Nieminen was another straight sets winner, seeing off Robin Haase 7-6 (7/5) 7-6 (7/4) .
