Top seed Yanina Wickmayer eased into the quarter-finals of the Moorilla Hobart International on Tuesday.
The Belgian star, a former US Open semi-finalist, thrashed Australia's Casey Dellacqua 6-1 6-1 to move into the last eight.
Wickmayer broke her opponent's serve five times on her way to a success which took little more than an hour.
Wickmayer will meet Simona Halep next after the Romanian saw off her compatriot and eighth seed Irina-Camelia Begu 6-4 6-2.
On another rain-affected day, last year's runner-up Bethanie Mattek-Sands bowed out at the hands of Sorana Cirstea, going down 2-6 6-3 7-5.

Cirstea will now meet fourth seed Angelique Kerber, who safely advanced with a 6-1 6-2 victory over Italy's Sara Errani.
Russian Anna Chakvetadze also went through to the last eight thanks to a 6-3 6-1 win over Bulgaria's Tsvetana Pironkova.
