Italian still on course for two titles at Roland Garros

Sara Errani's dream fortnight in Paris continued when she teamed up with fellow Italian Roberta Vinci to win the women's doubles title at the French Open. The win was welcome boost for Errani, who will face Maria Sharapova in the singles final on Saturday, having become the first player since Kim Clijsters in 2003 to reach both finals at Roland Garros. Errani and Vinci faced the Russian duo Maria Kirilenko and Nadia Petrova in the decider and prevailed 4-6 6-4 6-2 to claim their first Grand Slam doubles title. The duo were runners-up at the Australian Open in January and are unbeaten on clay this season, having won 23 matches, and other titles in Acapulco, Barcelona, Madrid and Rome. If Errani wins on Saturday, she will emulate Mary Pierce of France, who won both titles in 2000.
