World number 161 comes from set down to beat Serb

Third seed Jelena Jankovic was dumped out of the WTA Mercury Insurance Open by world number 161 Chan Yung-Jan in their quarter-final in Carlsbad, California. The 22-year-old qualifier from Chinese Taipei stunned the 27-year-old Serbian by coming from a set down to win 6-7 (4/7) 7-6 (10/8) 7-5 in three hours and 13 minutes. Her victory sets up a last-four clash with number one seed Marion Bartoli, who squeaked past Christina McHale of the United States in three sets. France's Bartoli was taken to a decider but broke her fifth-seeded opponent in the final game to take the match 7-5 4-6 6-4. Second seed Dominika Cibulkova of Slovakia had no problem getting past Urszula Radwanska, seeing off the Pole 6-4 6-4. She will play Nadia Petrova in the semi-finals after the third-seeded Russian overcame American Olympian Varvara Lepchenko 6-4 2-6 7-6 (9/7).
