Spaniard upset in opening round in Austria

Estonian Jurgen Zopp upset 2009 champion Guillermo Garcia-Lopez 6-1 6-3 in the first round of the Bet-at-Home Cup on Monday. The 80th-ranked Zopp raced to a 5-0 lead before the sixth-seeded Spaniard managed to hold serve for the first time. Garcia-Lopez had an early break in the second set but then lost his serve four times in a row. Elsewhere, Slovakia's Martin Klizan beat Austrian wild card Dominic Thiem 6-1 3-6 7-5 to advance to the second round. Klizan, the fifth seed, lost his serve to love when serving for the match, but broke Thiem again in the next game to seal the match. Italian Filippo Volandri will join him in the second round after ousting compatriot 1-6 6-4 6-3, while Antonio Veic of Croatia thumped eighth seed Blaz Kavcic of Slovenia 6-1 6-2. In other results, another Austrian Martin Fischer lost to Attila Balasz of Hungary 6-3 1-6 7-6 (2), to set up a clash with top seed Philipp Kohlschreiber, who received a bye in the opening round of the Austrian clay-court event.
