Ernests Gulbis came back from match point down to beat Andreas Haider-Maurer 2-6 7-5 6-1 in the first round of the Bet-at-Home Cup in Kitzbuhel. The seventh seed was 4-5 down in the second set and was one point away from an early exit but rallied to hold serve before forcing a decider against the Austrian wild card. Latvian Gulbis, who converted all four of his break point opportunities, then capitalised on the reprieve to win 10 of the last 11 games. Pavol Cervenak was also made to work hard for his victory as he overcame Ruben Ramirez Hidalgo of Spain 4-6 7-6 (7/1) 6-3 to set up a clash with fifth seed Martin Klizan. Elsewhere Philipp Oswald saw off Daniel Brands 4-6 6-2 6-3, Simone Bolelli overcame Horacio Zeballos 7-5 7-5 and Rogerio Dutra da Silva progressed as Jan Hajek retired after going 4-1 down in the first set.
