Irina-Camelia Begu secured her maiden WTA Tour title with a 6-4 6-4 victory over Donna Vekic at the Tashkent Open. The 22-year-old Romanian took the win after 80 minutes on court, clinching victory on her second match point against her teenage opponent. The world No 87 was rarely troubled in the opening set, securing the only break of serve in game seven. She clinched the first set with a hold to love but faced a tougher test in the second despite breaking first game and racing into a 4-2 lead. Her 16-year-old oppoent hit back by breaking in the eighth game, only to drop serve next time out. And Begu served it out 10th game to seal her maiden Tour title in Uzbekistan - having twice previously lost in finals.
