WTA Monterrey Open: Caroline Wozniacki progresses to third round in Mexico

Caroline Wozniacki made comfortable progress through to the third round at the Monterrey Open in Mexico, but former champion Timea Babos crashed out.
On a quiet day of action at the WTA event, the third-seeded Wozniacki cruised past Kristina Mladenovic 6-3 6-4 in an hour and 21 minutes.
But 2012 champion Babos lost in three sets to veteran Japanese Kimiko Date-Krumm, who won the first and third sets 6-4, with Babos taking the second on a tie-break.
Karolina Pliskova was a three-set winner over Donna Vekic, taking the tie 4-6 6-2 6-3, while qualifier Luksika Kumkhum was tipped out by Jovana Jaksik 3-6 7-6 7-6.
