German wildcard Peter Gojowczyk stunned third seed Milos Raonic to reach the quarter-finals of the Gerry Weber Open in Halle.
The 6-4 6-4 victory was the best of world number 120 Gojowczyk's career.
Fourth seed Kei Nishikori gained a morale-boosting 6-1 3-6 6-3 win over Frenchman Gael Monfils.
Nishikori had an excellent first four months of the season and was on the way to beating Rafael Nadal in the final in Madrid before a back problem struck.
He was still below par when he lost in the first round of the French Open but will have high hopes of doing well at Wimbledon.
Philipp Kohlschreiber joined Gojowczyk as a home winner with a 6-2 6-4 victory over Pierre-Hugues Herbert while Alejandro Falla defeated Robin Haase 7-6 (7/1) 6-4.
