Top seed Lleyton Hewitt moved a step closer to claiming a third Adelaide International title with a second round victory over Jose Acasuso on Thursday. Hewitt, who won this tournament in 1998 and 2000, recorded a comfortable 6-2 6-2 success over the unseeded Argentinian to book a quarter-final date with Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. He lost just three points in the first four games as he raced to a 4-0 lead before closing out the set with one of eight aces. In the second set Hewitt again dominated, breaking in the fifth and seventh games on his way to sealing the win in little more than an hour, and will now bid to avenge a defeat by Frenchman Tsonga at Queen's last year. "It was good, he is such a dangerous opponent," Hewitt said of Acasuso. "If you play into his hands he can really dictate play. "I was aggressive at the start putting a bit of doubt in his mind, especially in his service games. Finally he played a bit of a loose game and I hussled to get the break." Sixth seed Tsonga proved to strong for Latvian Ernests Gulbis, beating the teenager 6-3 6-2, while their were also straight set wins for third seed Jarkko Nieminen and American Vince Spadea.
