Victory over Kuznetsova is Belgian's 28th in a row

Justine Henin recovered from a set down to beat Svetlana Kuznetsova and win the Sydney International. The world number one beat Kuznetsova 4-6 6-2 6-4 despite losing the first set and then falling 3-0 behind in the decider. It was the Belgian's 28th consecutive victory, a winning run which stretches back to her shock semi-final defeat to Marion Bartoli at Wimbledon in July. Henin dropped her serve to love at the start of the third set, but broke to love in the fifth game to begin her fightback. A further break of serve in the ninth game ended Kuznetsova's resistance. Top seed Henin begins her Australian Open campaign against Aiko Nakamura next week, looking to add to the French and US Open titles she already holds. She did not appear at Melbourne Park 12 months ago due to the break up of her marriage.
