Roddick and Robredo secure second-round victories

Third seed David Ferrer suffered a shock defeat in the second round of the China Open in Beijing. The Spaniard was beaten 6-3 6-3 by world number 92 Dudi Sela in a match lasting only 70 minutes. There was no such trouble for second seed Andy Roddick, who cruised past Brendan Evans 6-4 6-3 to book his place in round three. Sixth seed Tommy Robredo also won in straight sets, beating Ivo Minar of the Czech Republic 6-2 6-3. Ferrer was playing in his first match of the tournament after receiving a bye in the first round and the world number five was comfortably outplayed. Sela secured an early break of serve to take control of the first set and then broke Ferrer to love in the fifth game of the second to set up his surprise win.
