Zvonareva also enjoys routine win

Top seed Ana Ivanovic breezed into the quarter-finals of the WTA Generali Ladies tournament with a straight-sets success over Sybille Bammer. The Serbian, who had been given a bye into the second round, dropped serve twice during a topsy-turvy start to the match. But Bammer was even more error-prone on her own delivery, being broken three times on her way to surrendering the opening set by a 6-4 margin. And Ivanovic encountered little further resistance in closing out the victory 6-2 in the second set. The French Open champion will play seventh seed Flavia Pennetta in the last eight after Pennetta defeated Dominika Cibulkova of Slovakia 6-3 6-1. Vera Zvonareva, the second seed, enjoyed an even more comprehensive win against the unfortunate Nuria Llagostera Vives. The Russian prevailed 6-2 6-0 and will face eighth seed Alize Cornet in the quarter-finals. Sixth seed Marion Bartoli also progressed after battling to overcome Czech qualifier Petra Kvitova 7-6 1-6 6-3.
