World No.56 set for Cup debut

Spain have named Marcel Granollers as a replacement for the injured Rafael Nadal for the Davis Cup final against Argentina. It will be the first Davis Cup appearance for world number 56 Granollers, who was named alongside David Ferrer, Feliciano Lopez and Fernando Verdasco by Spain captain Emilio Sanchez Vicario. World number one Nadal announced on Monday he would not compete in the tie in Mar del Plata later this month because of a knee problem. The coach revealed that higher-ranked players such as Carlos Moya, Tommy Robredo and Nicolas Almagro were tired or had already started their holidays ahead of pre-season training for next year. "Granollers has huge potential and a great future in front of him and is capable of playing singles and doubles. It will be a great experience for him," Sanchez-Vicario said. Juan Martin Del Potro, David Nalbandian, Jose Acasuso and Agustin Calleri make up the Argentina team. The Davis Cup final will take place between November 21 and 23.
