Andy Roddick has announced that Larry Stefanki will be his new coach. The 26-year-old told his official website that the pair will work together during the off-season ahead of the 2009 ATP Tour. Stefanki, a former player who reached a career-high ranking of number 35, has previously coached Tim Henman, John McEnroe, Marcelo Rios and Yevgeny Kafelnikov. Most recently, he coached 2007 Australian Open runner-up Fernando Gonzalez. Jimmy Connors resigned as Roddick's coach early in the 2008 season. The American won the 2003 US Open when coached by Brad Gilbert and finished that year at the top in the rankings. Roddick was ranked eighth after a 2008 season which brought three ATP titles but which also ended prematurely when an ankle injury forced him out of the Masters Cup in Shanghai two weeks ago. He has worked with a number of coaches during his career, including Patrick McEnroe during this year's US Open. Roddick has also been coached by his brother, John.
