Swiss star looks in good touch

Roger Federer cruised into the fourth round of the Sony Ericsson Open as he continued his bid for a third Miami title. The Swiss former world number one, who looked in good touch, breezed past Germany's Nicolas Kiefer 6-4 6-1. Federer will next face qualifier Taylor Dent after the big-serving American upset Spanish 15th seed Tommy Robredo 7-5 6-3. Sixth seed Andy Roddick, a potential quarter-final opponent for Federer, continued his smooth progress through the draw with a 7-6 (11-9) 6-2 victory over Russian Dmitry Tursunov. The American, who won the title here in 2004, will face Frenchman Gael Monfils after the ninth seed saw off Russia's Marat Safin 5-7 7-5 7-6 (7-3).

Djokovic through

Roddick is through to the last 16 after withstanding strong winds gusting throughout the match. "The wind was gusting but it wasn't consistent, so it was tough to really commit to any shot," Roddick said. "From one end it was basically like playing downhill. "I was trying to mix up paces a little bit on the bigger points, that helped me out a little bit." Number three seed Novak Djokovic advanced with a 6-4 6-1 win over France's Paul-Henri Mathieu, while seventh-seeded Gilles Simon overcame a first set defeat to German Rainer Schuettler 3-6 6-1 6-1. Highly-fancied Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga also booked his place in the next round by beating American Robert Kendrick 7-5 6-4, and Czech Tomas Berdych saw off James Blake 6-4 6-7 (3/7) 6-3.
