Serb through to final of Sony Ericsson Open

Novak Djokovic came from a set down to beat Roger Federer in their Sony Ericsson Open semi-final. Federer took the first set comfortably but watched the match slip away from him as the third-seeded Serb fought back to win 3-6 6-2 6-3. After a relatively straightforward first set, Federer was broken early in the second and fell to a 3-0 deficit. But the world number two responded immediately to level the scores at 3-3. However, Djokovic then reeled off seven consecutive games to win the second set and take a crucial 4-0 lead in the third.

Errors

The Swiss player's error-strewn display left him visibly frustrated and he even broke a racquet by slamming it into the surface of the Miami hard court. Djokovic revealed that patience and physical conditioning were the secrets behind his victory over the multiple Grand Slam winner. "I had a day off, I healed myself, drank a lot of liquids and recovered pretty good," he told Sky Sports after the match. "Today I felt really fit. The key was the patience - something I didn't have in the first set. "(The conditions) were quite difficult. It was a nice breeze on a hot day for people in the stands, but for us players it wasn't easy. That's why there were much more unforced errors than winners." The world number three will face Andy Murray in the final of the tournament.
