Heartbreak for Robson who perishes to Buchina

Britain's Heather Watson raced into the US Open girls' final but Laura Robson suffered semi-final heartache in New York. Watson will fight for the title with Russian Yana Buchina, who beat former Wimbledon junior champion Robson 1-6 6-3 7-5. There were high hopes of an all-British final and Watson secured her place by beating Russia's Daria Gavrilova 6-3 6-0, however Robson fell short. Buchina will be seeking her third British scalp of the tournament when she takes on Watson, having knocked out Stephanie Cornish in the first round. The British pair had to play both their quarter and semi-final matches on Saturday following the rain disruptions earlier in the week. Watson, the 11th seed from Guernsey, powered past Thailand's Noppawan Lertcheewakarn 6-2 6-1 to reach the last four, while Robson brushed aside American Lauren Davis 6-2 6-3.
