Israeli fifth seed takes straight sets win in China

Shahar Peer claimed her first WTA Tour title victory in three years on Sunday with victory in the Guangzhou Open. The fifth-seeded Israeli scored a 6-3 6-4 win over Italy's Alberta Brianti having shown dominant form throughout the Chinese tournament. Peer reached the final without losing a set and had little difficulty overcoming first-time finalist Brianti. The title is the fourth Peer has won on the Tour, her other three all coming in 2006 with victories at Pattaya City, Prague and Istanbul.
