Govortsova awaits Italian in Moscow final

Francesca Schiavone and Olga Govortsova will contest the WTA Kremlin Cup final after both players overcame their respective semi-final opponents on Saturday. Eighth seed Schiavone, the last seed remaining in the event, cruised past Ukraine's Alona Bondarenko 6-4 6-0, and Govortsova confidently swept aside Alisa Kleybanova 6-2 6-1. Italian Schiavone, the 2005 runner-up, has now recorded four wins over Bondarenko out of six head-to-head meetings. "I'm happy with my playing today," the 29-year-old said. "I was serving good, returning well. I moved quickly, played agressively and dominated the playing in general. "I hope that I can manage to play that style tomorrow (Sunday) in the final." Meanwhile, Govortsova from the Belarus levelled her head-to-head record with Kleybanova at two wins all. Govortsova clinched the first set in 40 minutes before confirming her supremacy with three breaks in the second. "It will be my second career final and I want to perform at my best tomorrow," Govortsova said.
