Forgotten duo to contest Sydney final

Richard Gasquet and Marcos Baghdatis will contest the Sydney International final after both passed semi-final examinations on Friday. 2006 Australian Open finalist Baghdatis followed up his quarter-final victory over home favourite Lleyton Hewitt with an epic 6-4 6-7 (7-9) 7-6 (7-5) semi-final triumph over American Mardy Fish. The Cypriot, currently ranked 42 in the world, squandered a match point in the second set before eventually prevailing in just under three hours. Former world number seven Gasquet awaits Baghdatis in the final after recording a 6-4 7-5 victory over French compatriot Julien Benneteau. Gasquet broke his opponent four times before reaching his first ATP World Tour final in 18 months in 99 minutes. "I'm really happy because I won," he said. "It wasn't a great match, not an incredible level. "I was a little bit tired in the second set but I tried to play and I was a little bit lucky. The really important points, I played better than him."
