Frenchman Robert puts an end to Brown's impressive run
Gael Monfils eased past Lu Yen-Hsun to set up a mouth-watering semi-final clash with Feliciano Lopez at the SA Tennis Open.
The top-seeded Frenchman cruised to a 6-1 6-4 victory against Lu, who produced an error-strewn performance.
The Chinese Taipei player managed to win just one game in the opening set, 16 unforced errors not helping his cause as he quickly fell behind.
He did manage to up more of a fight in the second but a single break of serve was enough for the world number 13 to march on in Johannesburg.
Fast match
"I felt I had a very good game. It was a very fast match and I am happy to reach the last four and hopefully I can maintain this perfect form," Monfils said.
Standing in Monfils' way of a place in Sunday's final will be Lopez, the third seed having ended the hopes of American Rajeev Ram 7-6 (7-2) 6-3.
The second semi-final will see second seed David Ferrer take on Stephane Robert at Montecasino.
Spaniard Ferrer dropped just four games on his way to a crushing 6-1 6-3 triumph over Indian Somdev Devvarman that took just 66 minutes.
Robert had a tougher passage through to the last four, eventually ending the impressive run of German-born Jamaican Dustin Brown.
The big-serving Brown had his chances to see off the Frenchman, losing the opening set on a tie-break before wasting six break-point opportunities in the second set to hand his rival victory.
