Wimbledon semi-finalist Tsvetana Pironkova crashed out of the Istanbul Cup to Anastasia Rodionova.

Rodionova claims scalp of Wimbledon semi-finalist at Istanbul Cup

Fifth seed and recent Wimbledon semi-finalist Tsvetana Pironkova crashed out of the Istanbul Cup at the second-round stage, beaten 6-1 3-6 6-2 by Australia's Anastasia Rodionova. But there was better news for sixth-seeded German Andrea Petkovic, who emerged victorious from a gruelling clash with Russian qualifier Ekaterina Makarova, taking two hours and 52 minutes to finally triumph 7-6 (7-5) 5-7 6-3. Russia's Vera Dushevina was a 6-3 6-7 (10-8) 6-2 winner over Anastasija Sevastova, of Latvia. Another Russian, Elena Vesnina, secured a comfortable 6-3 6-2 success over Swiss star Stefanie Voegele.
