The 16-time grand slam champion has won almost everything in the game - including an Olympic gold medal - and is the most successful player to have ever graced a tennis court. He won five Wimbledon titles in a row from 2003, plus a sixth in 2009, however the Swiss has since failed to draw level with Pete Sampras, the man he stunned at SW19 10 years ago to announce his name to the watching world. It's not been the best of times for Federer since his win at Wimbledon two years ago and at the time of writing he has none of the four Grand Slam trophies in his possession for the first time since 2003. However, as if to prove the critics wrong, Federer recently produced a superb display at the French Open to end the 43-match winning streak of Novak Djokovic, although Rafael Nadal claimed his scalp in the final. Federer's gold medal came in Beijing in 2008 when he teamed up with Swiss compatriot Stanislas Wawrinka in the doubles event. His hopes of a singles medal were dashed by American James Blake, who shocked him 6-4 7-6 at the quarter-final stage.
