Second seed remains on course to repeat his title triumph of 2010

Nicolas Almagro battled back from a disastrous opening set to see off qualifier Ivo Minar and reach the quarter-finals of the ATP Swedish Open. The second-seeded Almagro looked set to be heading for an early exit in Bastad when he quickly fell a set behind against his Czech opponent. However the Spaniard, winner of the tournament in 2010, battled back, taking the second set in a tense tie break before edging the decider thanks to a single break of serve. His 1-6 7-6 (10-8) 6-4 triumph sets up a clash with compatriot Daniel Gimeno-Traver, who was 6-4 6-3 winner over Italian qualifier Alessandro Giannessi. Third seed Albert Ramos, another Spaniard in the draw, eased past Kazakh qualifier Evgeny Korolev 6-3 6-3. His next opponent will be the sixth-seeded Grigor Dimitrov, who defeated Frederico Gil of Portugal 6-3 6-4.
