The top three seeds have all made it through to the semi-finals of the Colombia Open in Bogota.

However, while No 2 Bernard Tomic won in straight sets, No 1 Ivo Karlovic and No 3 Adrian Mannarino were taken to a deciding third.

Aussie Tomic beat Tatsuma Ito of Japan 6-1 6-4 in just 62 minutes, while conceding just six points from his final five service games.

Top seeded Karlovic was fully tested by another veteran of the ATP Tour, Radek Stepanek of the Czech Republic.

The Croatian won 3-6 7-6 (9-7) 6-4 but had to survive a match point in the second set tie-break.

In a two-hour and 10-minute contest that yielded just two breaks of serve, Karlovic trailed 5-6 in the tie-break which itself witnessed just a single point against the serve.

Stepanek will feel a little aggrieved at losing the second set in which he won 31 of his 35 service points.

In the decider, Karlovic made the only break in game seven and now faces Mannarino who beat Malek Jaziri of Tunisia 1-6 6-1 6-3. The Frenchman sealed the win on his fourth match point.

The only Friday surprise was the defeat of the No 4 seed Victor Estrella of the Dominican Republic.

Estrella was beaten 6-3 3-6 6-3 by the unseeded German Michael Berrer who earlier in the week had knocked out Britain’s James Ward.
