Veteran full-back Kevin McNaughton has agreed to join Wigan on a one-year deal.

The 32-year-old, who spent last season on loan with Bolton before injury cut short his stay, has been a free agent since his release from Cardiff and has linked up with his former Scotland team-mate and Latics boss Gary Caldwell.

McNaughton had been training with Blackpool this summer but has opted to move to their Sky Bet League One rivals after also spending time with Wigan on a trial basis.

"I've known Kevin for a long time and we are fortunate that someone of his pedigree and experience has come available at the right time," Caldwell told the club's official website.
