Dundee United have signed former West Ham defender Guy Demel.
The 34-year-old has agreed a deal until the end of the season as United manager Mixu Paatelainen looks to bolster his squad.
French-born Demel - who was in Arsenal's youth set-up without ever playing for them - played 83 times for the Hammers in four seasons and has also played for Hamburg and Borussia Dortmund during his career.
Demel has 35 caps for the Ivory Coast and joins Gavin Gunning in having made the move to Tannadice since Paatelainen came in as head coach.
"Guy comes with a lot experience and fantastic pedigree. He can add a lot to our squad. He is a powerful player but above all a good footballer," Paatelainen told his club's official website.
"He will be a strong character in our dressing room and I am delighted to start working with him."
The player himself is pleased to join the club and is keen to help United climb off the bottom of the Scottish Premiership table.
"Once I spoke to the head coach, I was excited by the challenge of Dundee United and the role he has planned for me. I want to identify myself with the club," said Demel, who can play at right-back or centre-back.
"I have many years of experience in football and if I can use my knowledge to help the younger players here, that is what I will do.
"I have been training hard and I can't wait to play for Dundee United. I am ready as soon as the head coach needs me."
Demel could make his debut when Dundee United host Hamilton on Saturday.
