France defender Christophe Jallet has extended his contract at Lyon until 2018, the Ligue 1 club have announced.

The 32-year-old, signed from Paris Saint-Germain in 2014, has established himself at the Grande Stade despite having to had to compete for playing time this season with former Manchester United full-back Rafael.

"I am very happy," Jallet told the club's official website after signing the one-year extension.

"I wanted to be a part of that project and I am 200 per cent committed. The contract was sorted in two days.

"This mark of the club's confidence pleases me enormously and gives me ever more desire."

Coach Bruno Genesio added: "I am very happy for many reasons. He is one of the stars of the team and he is a motivator, thanks to his spirit and the example he sets."
