Accrington defender Mark Hughes signs a new deal

Accrington defender Mark Hughes has signed a new deal to stay at the club for at least another season.

The 29-year-old Liverpudlian has put pen to paper on a 12-month contract.

Accrington confirmed through the club's official Twitter account: "Defender Mark Hughes has signed a one-year deal with a one-year option".

Hughes arrived at the club until the end of the season following his release from Stevenage in January.

The former Everton trainee, whose previous clubs also include Northampton, Walsall, Bury and Morecambe, made 17 appearances for Accrington this season, scoring one goal, and started in both legs of the club's play-off semi-final defeat to AFC Wimbledon.
