Oxford have sign Rob Hall following his release from Bolton

Oxford have signed striker Rob Hall on a two-year deal following his release from Bolton this summer.

Hall, 22, had two previous loan spells at newly-promoted Sky Bet League One club Oxford in 2011 when he was a teenager with West Ham.

"He knows the club and knows what we are looking to build here," U's boss Michael Appleton told Oxford's official website.

"He has played most of his football at a higher level and is still only 22 so we believe that there is plenty more to come from him."

Hall made seven senior appearances for first club West Ham before signing a permanent deal with Bolton in 2013. He has also had loan spells at MK Dons and Birmingham.

Meanwhile, U's goalkeeper Sam Slocombe has left the club by mutual consent.

The 28-year-old started last season as first choice after arriving from Scunthorpe but lost his place to Liechtenstein goalkeeper Benji Buchel and has now departed the Kassam Stadium despite having a year to run on his contract.

Competition for the number one jersey had intensified this summer with Simon Eastwood's arrival from Blackburn and Max Crocombe returning from a loan spell with Southport.

"Sam is a good lad and did well for us at the start of last season but he knows that he wouldn't be getting regular football here this season and so we have agreed that he can move on," said Appleton.

"I believe a new club is already on the cards and I hope Sam gets himself sorted and playing again very soon"
