Luton have completed the loan signing of Newcastle midfielder Alex Gilliead.
The 20-year-old, an England Under-20 international, has agreed a switch to Kenilworth Road until January.
"Coming from Newcastle and the north east and moving south, it's a big move for me," he told Luton's official website.
"It's a new challenge. I've never been away from home before so I see this all as part of my development as a player and a person."
Gilliead made 35 appearances for Carlisle during a loan spell last season and scored against the Hatters.
Luton boss Nathan Jones made a second Sky Bet Championship raid later in the day by signing Huddersfield left-back Jack Senior on a two-year deal.
"Jack is a player we've been aware of for a long time and Mick Harford gave him the rubber-stamp when he went to watch him the other day," Jones, speaking to the club's official website, said of the 19-year-old.
"He ticks all the boxes for us. He's a young, hungry and athletic player who wants to learn."
