Cambridge have signed Chesterfield midfielder Liam O'Neil for an undisclosed fee.

The Cambridge-born 23-year-old, a product of the club's Centre of Excellence before joining West Brom in 2015, has signed a deal until June 2020.

U's manager Shaun Derry told the club's official website: "Liam will add great value both on the football pitch with the quality he brings when in and out of possession, but also away from the pitch with what he brings to the community.

"He is a Cambridge boy returning home and is a fantastic fit for us.
