Newport have signed Yeovil midfielder Matty Dolan on a free transfer, following the expiration of his contract.

The 24-year-old, who made 103 appearances for the Glovers since rejoining the club in 2015, will join fellow League Two outfit Newport on July 1 after turning down a new deal at Huish Park.

Dolan told the club's official website: "I'm delighted to sign for County and am really excited for a new challenge ahead. The manager's (Michael Flynn) enthusiasm and ambition is really exciting and I'm looking forward to the upcoming season as we look to make it a really positive one for Newport County."

Manager Michael Flynn added: "Matty comes from a good pedigree having started his career at Middlesbrough and is technically one of the best midfielders in the league.

"He's very good on set-pieces and an all-round intelligent footballer.

"I'm really excited having Matty in; he was one of my main targets this summer and fits the criteria of what we want at this football club. He's ambitious and buys into what we're aiming to achieve with a successful season."
