Transfer news: York City set to land former Southend winger Anthony Straker

York City are poised to sign former Southend United winger Anthony Straker, Sky Sports understands.

Straker is available on a free transfer after seeing out his contract at Southend earlier this summer.

The 25-year-old has established himself as one of the best wingers in League Two after impressing at Southend during his two seasons at Roots Hall.

A number of clubs are thought to have expressed an interest in signing Grenada international Straker, but York are set to win the race for his services.

Straker is thought to be undergoing a medical at Bootham Cresent ahead of sealing his move to the Minstermen.

York boss Nigel Worthington has been busy so far in the transfer market and he sees Straker as a key addition to his plans for next season as he looks to mount another bid for promotion.
